The Friends of the Historic Commons was created in May of 2019 to celebrate, preserve, protect, and enhance the usage of the structures, landscapes, historic vision, and cultural significance of the former home of the Traverse City State Hospital.
The Friends of the Historic Commons is a non-profit Michigan corporation operating under Section 501(c)3 of the code of the US Internal Revenue Service and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of residents of the Grand Traverse Commons and the surrounding community who share a commitment to the protection of this important community resource and expansion of the knowledge of our shared history and common culture.
In accord with State and Federal regulations The Friends of the Historic Commons makes available for public view its most recent tax return (when available and upon request) and IRS Letter of Determination of tax-exempt status.
